In 2006, the Miracle League of the Triangle rallied community support and raised nearly $1 million to construct the HWY 55 Charitable Foundation Field of Dreams located at Adams Elementary School in Cary, NC. On September 16 of that same year, we opened our first season with more than 100 players and 200 volunteers from throughout the Triangle.
Less than eight years later, we completed construction of the Fred Smith Company North Wake Field on land generously donated by the Triangle YMCA. Between our Cary and North Raleigh locations, we served nearly 500 players with special needs each season on 30 teams in 2013. In the spring of 2015, we expanded our program by offering an Adult League age-group and a competitive division. All this growth took our program from the original Saturday morning games to playing ball 5 days a week.
Our third location opened in the spring of 2023 in Durham, NC. The Durham Bulls Miracle League Park, located just down the street from our generous partners at the Durham Bulls and Capitol Broadcasting, brought even more opportunities for athletes. With this expansion, our program now serves well over 600 players with nearly 200 coaches and over 7,000 volunteer hours each season.
There are presently 350 plus Miracle League organizations across the country including Puerto Rico and Canada, while serving 450,000 plus children and adults.
HWY 55 Charitable Foundation Field of Dreams: With tremendous community support and close partnership with the Wake County Public School System, our first synthetic surface field was constructed at Adam’s Elementary School in Cary.
